  • 220g can water chestnuts, drained and sliced
  • 1 tsp vegetable, corn or sunflower oil for stir-fry
  • 1/2 tbsp light brown soft sugar
  • 1 tbsp mirin
  • 1.5 tbsp kikkoman soy sauce
  • toasted sesame oil
  • toasted sesame seeds
  • red dried chili

  • In a frying pan heat the oil over a midium-high heat and stir-fry the water chestnuts for a fer minutes until coated.
  • Stir in the sugar, honey or mirin, soy sauce and allow it to evaporate.
  • Add the red chili, if you like and turn off the heat.
  • Drip some sesame oil and dress with the sesame seeds.
