Ingredients : Serves 2

  • 100g plain flour*
  • 1.5 tsp baking powder*
  • 1 medium egg
  • 2 tbsp g ranulated sugar
  • 100ml semi skimmed milk
  • vegetable, corn or sunflower oil for fry

  • butter
  • maple syrup
  • honey
  • granulated sugar
  • cinammon powder
*Alternatively use 100g self raising flour. Do not have to use baking powder.


  • Sift together the flour and baking powder. If self raising flour is used, sift as well.
  • In a bowl mix well the egg and sugar with a wisk. Stir in the milk.
  • Add the flour siftting again and combine well.
  • Place a large frying pan over a medium-low heat, rub the oil with a kitchen peper. Place on a dump cloth to reduce excess heat and pour all the batter.
  • Cover with the lid for 3-4 minutes, or until the hot cake is set, bubble on the edges and coloured underneath.
  • Turn the hot cake over, cook for a few minutes.
  • Serve immedietly with the butter, maple syrup, honey, sugar, cinammon, etc. . .
